I’m Back!!!

Hello everybody!

I know, I know… I’ve been a little busy lately and I haven’t considered writing a top priority.

Lots of things have changed in the last year or two. I found an inner equilibrium that I’m really greatful for. My family, my job, my hobbies… they all fulfill me. I’m finally doing the things that I really love. Well, except for photography, for my camera is broken. I could use that as a pretext to buy a new one, a better one. Hmm, Christmas is near ;)

By the way, winter came with the fisrt snow here. Now that I’m looking on the window, I realise that everything happend in the morning and there’s not a trade of it right now. I guess more will come in the following days, right?

Have a great day, all of you. Stay warm :)

My Grandpa is the Best!!!

He’s by far the best grandpa in the world.

I grow up with my grandpa and grandma. They raised me until I was seven and came to Timisoara to school. I can’t remember screaming at me not even once as child. He is always smiling and happy. He’s the most optimist person I know. I wish there were more like him.

As a young man he used to be a parachutist. No fear was so ever… I really admire him, I’m so proud of such a grandpa.

And where is fun, there’s my grandpa. And where is my grandpa there is fun. By definition. He will never grow old. I think that we should all learn a lesson from him. Never to ignore the child in us.

This is him today, whiter, maybe, older, never…

You’re the best. I love you, Tata Nelu!!!

Back Home For Holidays

I took advantage of these few days off from work to spend some time with my family.

I have almost forgotten how good that feels like.

It’s incredible how easy can a child thrill his parents just by spending few moments with them.

My fancy mum

Home I have found:

- nature, by taking a walk though the park in Deta where I used to go when I was a child

- memories

- my red bike

- red eggs? of course, tradition is tradition (I was laughing with tears when I’ve seen my dog with a red egg in his mouth and his guilty eyes)

Happy Easter!

Vintage Love

I want to share my vintage collection with you. I think you’ll like it.

Some of them were my grandmother’s, my aunt’s, my mother’s and I promise I’ll take so good care of them.

Glow with the Right Accessories

Just playing around with fire. Have a look at the result.

There are more in ‘My art’.

Some more brooches.

Hello spring!

First day of spring… just theoretic for now because outside is still chilly and everything is numb.

But I can definitely see it coming.

It must be my favorite season of all. The weather is warm and never too hot. I can put away my coat and pull out the skirts and dresses and still wear them with cardigans or boots. My red bicycle will see the daylight again.

There’s no words to describe my happiness. Let this be the symbol for a new begining.

Coffee vs. Tea

I was and always be definitely a tea addicted, but recently I have discovered an attraction for coffee. I always loved the smell of coffee in the morning.

Some tea pots from my own collection

After almost three years of working nine hours a day, five days a week, I cannot ignore anymore the need of coffee in the mornings. So a coffee french press is required.

Because everybody needs to know how to prepare a good cup of coffee.

I admit that I can only mix a coffee instant with hot water or order a Starbuck’s venti-skinny-latte-extra-foam-double-dip. That will change soon because it’s actually quite easy to prepare one. Have a look and then try it yourself:

The Steps

  1. Start boiling water.
  2. Have a grinder? Good. Grind the coffee beans until you’ve got enough of this ratio: 1 tablespoon per 4oz cup. Increase the amount of grinds you make depending on how much coffee you want to make. If you don’t have a grinder, just make sure you purchase coarse grind coffee at the market. Though, nothing beats fresh ground beans. Nothing. Drop the ground beans into your press pot.
  3. Let boiling water sit still, without heat, for a few minutes – longer if you’ve brewed a full pot
  4. Pour the water into your press pot in a clockwise motion gradually moving towards the center to make sure you’re saturating all the grinds. Remember: you’re pouring 4oz of water per 1 tablespoon of coffee.
  5. As you pour, you’ll see something referred to as the “bloom”. You’ll want more of this. To get it, stir a few times with a stirring spoon (a chopstick also works). Voila, more bloom.
  6. Insert the filter/lid onto the pot. Make sure you DO NOT press. Just have it on and ready.
  7. Let the hot water steep for about 3-5 minutes. Then firmly, and ever so slowly, press down the plunger/filter until it is fully extended.
  8. Pour, prepare to taste, and enjoy.

France Mon Amour

I wish…

France is on my list of countries to be visited this year.

But I guess it’s depressing to go there by yourself so my knight in shining armor is also on my 2010 list :D

So I have decided to remember what I have learned for twelve years during primary and secondary school.

Ha ha, this will be fun, because I love reading in French out loud.

This is such a sexy language :)

Look at this:

Douce Saint-Valentin d’amour

Le coeur qui crie l’amour,
pour cette femme tout les jours,
celle qui a notre coeur,
et notre bonheur …

Une femme parfaite à nos yeux,
nos yeux tant amoureux,
on était à la recherche d’amour,
et enfin elle est là chaque jour …

Une saint-valentin dans ses bras,
où on glisse des mots tout bas,
pour dire son amour,
qui pour elle durera toujours …

Elle qui a notre coeur,
qui sèche nos pleurs,
et en cette belle saint-valentin,
cet amour ne fait qu’un …

Love, La vie, La vita… Lav

The text is mine

For those of you who have met your half, everything will come natural tomorrow.

For the rest, there’s always chocolate :)

Let’s Sushi!

The girls and I have programmed this sushi day for over a week. We all have tried sushi today for the first time.

The location wasn’t saying much cause there wasn’t anything special or traditional about it, except for the three young guys who were preparing everything right where you order. So we stood there while they were preparing some salmon and rice handrolled in seaweed. Looked interesting at least.

The rolls’ taste depend on what’s in them. Salty and fishy, overall… ;-) the overall taste is most likely the seaweed, which is really just salty in taste, and then of course you just have to add the soy sauce, that’s a main part of the flavour, ( again salty) and the ginger is great, gives a crisp tangy bite, as well, the wasabe, phew, hot, hot, hot

What to recommend to you? Hmmm, we were six girls and each had different opinions about it.

But, overall, you should try it at least once and at least because it’s fun to try handling those Japanese sticks :)
